In building construction, an expansion joint is a mid-structure separation designed to relieve stress on building materials caused by building movement. Because the joint bisects the entire structure, it marks a gap through all building assemblies e.g. walls, decks, foundation floors and walls, terrace, planters, interior floors, etc. This gap must be filled to restore the waterproofing, fire proofing, sound proofing, air barrier, roof membrane, trafficable surface and other functions of the building elements it bisects. Expansion joint systems are used to bridge the gap and restore building assembly functions while accommodating expected movements. These services can be availed from us on a very reasonable prices.

An Expansion Joint is a gap in the building structure provided by an Architect or Engineer to allow for the movement of building due to temperature changes. An Expansion Joint is an assembly designed to safely absorb the heat induced Expansion and Contraction of various construction materials. Expansion Joints are put in place before the concrete is poured. Expansion Joints are used to allow the slab to move and not put stress on whatever it abuts. These joints are placed where a slab meets a building, where a slab meets another slab, and where a pool deck meets the coping. They are commonly found between sections of slabs, bridges and other structures. The traditional systems has given way to rubber based and thermoplastic tape based systems, which are simply applied on joints with an adhesive. The systems are UV resistant, highly elastic and can withstand extreme movements of the joints. Expansion Joints are installed to manage the coefficient of thermal expansion over large spans of concrete. The waterproofing material must not only cope with the movement of building, but also be designed to resist aging that leads to the weakening of bond on the concrete and causes failure of the system.
